Notes

Fly over the borderland, do not pierce it...

This body of work addresses, everyday concerns, anxieties and questing. Our physical bodies expend great energy going after what we want and need. Gestures, literal and pictorial, provide a way into a story and new narratives develop when I combine images estranged by time and style. Eliminating a ground line sends us up in the air and allows the tension of apparent complements to become more oppositional in suspended space. Desire and denial, rupture and connection hold tight in a space where terra firma has gone missing. In such a place, maintaining balance is crucial. Here, gesture is a survival tool and vehicle for the most necessary expression.
