Lacking Wings, we do what we can to open up our grounded place. In my southern culture, words were primary in translating experience, but I find images have the power to reveal secrets and become an antidote to corrupted stories and games. The core of this exhibition is "Some Tales," a set of 9 mixed media works on paper which began with two girls, in profile, reciting the alphabet, one in English and one in Italian. Their very literal efforts become a short, repetive chourus bracketing action stories made in various media which picture how we go. Across the room, differently hued ovals link up to convey repetition and singularity in a very diffent way, projecting forward or fading back, static, timeless, reassuring.
